People in the Channel Islands are celebrating international bat night.

Each year people from across the world take part in events to mark the occasion.

It has taken place on the last full weekend of August since 1997 with more than 30 countries taking part.

The Jersey Bat Group will be hosting two free activity walks. These will take place at Val de la Mare rereservoir on August 24 and at Queens Valley reservoir on August 25 at 8pm.

Bats play a vital role in our eco-system. Here in Jersey we are fortunate to have records of around 18 different species either visiting or living on our island. The Jersey Bat Group is dedicated to learning more about these wonderful creatures and helping towards the conservation of all bats and the habitats in which they live.
