Guernsey's Cameron Chalmers has been named in a 72-strong British Athletics squad for the World Championships in Doha.

The 400m specilaist is one of seven men selected for the relay at the event, which begins in Qater on 27 September.

He was also called-up for the World Championships in London two years ago but had to withdraw through injury.

Chalmers, who is the British champion indoors, took silver at the outdoor trials in Birmingham earlier this month in season's best time of 45.84.

I'm really pleased to be running near my best, I performed well at the British Champs when it mattered and when I planned to, so that was really pleasing. To be selected for a major championship for Great Britain's always a great thing and basically what you do it for, that's what you're training for all year, or for years leading up to it, so to get the phone call and have it confirmed is great and I need to really make the most of it while I'm fortunate enough to be in the situation where I can actually be part of something like that as an athlete.
