Colourful knitted blankets have appeared on the donkey statues in Guernsey's Market Square this morning.

The wool work has been created by foster carers, adopters, children in foster care, social workers and local community groups and will be on display for a week.

Information on how to contact Guernsey Foster Care is listed on banners next to the displays.

The awareness campaign was launched by the Family Placement Service, that says there is currently a particular need in the Bailiwick for foster carers who can care for sibling groups, school aged children and teenagers.

We are seeking foster carers who can be available for short or long term fostering or short break care for all ages of children.

Other types of care include Specialist Foster Care and Short Break Care which specifically supports children with disabilities and their families.
