Jersey’s retiring Bailiff has ruled out ever standing for election as a politician.

As Sir William Bailhache retires from his four-year tenure as Bailiff he’s confirmed to ITV News he won’t be following in his brother’s footsteps - Sir Philip Bailhache was elected Senator after retiring as Bailiff.

Instead, Sir William says he intends to remain a judge in court cases.

In a wide-ranging farewell interview with our reporter Gary Burgess, he reveals the reason for his controversial speech this week about the Jersey Care Inquiry, more on the plans for the 75th anniversary of the Liberation, and whether he or his brother was the better Bailiff.
