Guernsey 2021 medal design announced

The winning medal design for the Guernsey 2021 NatWest International Island Games has been announced following a public vote.

Local designer Chloe Sarre's creations were chosen from a three-strong shortlist with more than 1,600 votes cast in total.

The final three were selected from more than 70 entries by a judging panel including some of Guernsey's Island Games stars.

This summer's Games in Gibraltar saw 604 gold, silver and bronze medals handed out across 14 sports.

Guernsey will become the first of the 24 member islands to host the Games three times when they return in July 2021.

The medal has 24 sections around the outer ring, which represents 23 of the islands that are coming to Guernsey and the last one represents the Island Games association. The idea is that they're all coming to Guernsey to compete in 2021 for the Island Games and Guernsey is in the middle to show that journey of people coming to the island.
