A range of new measures designed to improve pedestrian safety near a school in St Brelade have been approved.

Three-quarters of local residents near La Route Orange had previously said they wanted to see the area near La Moye School made safer.

What changes are going to be made?

  • Changing the part-time 20mph limit to a permanent 20mph zone

  • Raised zebra crossings at La Moye School and at Les Creux

  • A new footway with bollard protection from La Moye garage to Le Clos Orange

  • Footway widening at La Moye School and close to the entrance of Les Creux

  • Removal of a bus lay-by

After a thorough review of the area by road safety specialists, as part of the Safer Routes to School Scheme, these works will improve the safety of the area which is used by students and residents. The improvements align with the Council of Minister’s strategic priorities including, putting children first, improving islander’s well being and protecting the environment.
