Plans for a JCG bridge resubmitted after site notice error

The plan for a bridge between Jersey College for Girls Main College and Prep School campuses is having to be resubmitted after site notices ‘disappeared’.

The walkway over Claremont road had been designed to allow students to safely cross the road without the need for adult supervision.

Despite the proposal presented to the Planning Committee on 11 September being agreed 4 votes to 1 plans must be presented to the committee again.

Regulations rule that site notices, a sign displaying planning proposals to the public, must be displayed for at least 21 days. Whilst these signs had been put up they were not up for long enough.

Jersey College for Girls listed the bridges proposed benefits:

  • No need for students to cross the dangerous Claremont Road without leaving the campus;

  • A safe passage for students to access all areas of the campus and subsequent resources thus allowing for a much wider curriculum provision;

  • A convenient and swift transfer between sites;

  • A secure and gated point of entry to JCP.
