188 hospitality professionals in Nairobi have been interviewed for seasonal jobs in Jersey.
Jersey recruiters turned to Kenya to try and cover staff shortages in the island’s hospitality sector. Interviews included presentations about tourist attractions in Jersey.
GR8 looked for candidates in Kenya who have at least two years experience in the industry, a college or university degree and have passed valid checks. They had a range of applicants including talented chefs, mixologists, managers and front of house staff.
Some people made a round trip of over 1,400km to attend the interviews.
In total 120 candidates will be approved to work in Jersey hospitality jobs once documents have been provided.
GR8 hopes this can be the beginning of a new partnership to provide a regular recruitment source for the island.
