A prefered bidder has been announced to work on the States Offices which currently house the Tourist Information Centre in Guernsey.

Six States-owned sites in Guernsey have been identified as possible locations for development as part of a Seafront Enhancement Programme.

The real estate developer RED fund, will now develop and confirm its proposals for the site which include a hotel as part of the seafront enhancement programme.

The States Offices are home to the Tourist Information Centre and are right at the centre of the St Peter Port seafront.

The building stretches over three floors and an internal area of approximately 7,800 square feet.

It is a protected building but might be turned into a boutique hotel, with an individualised unique selling point.

The Tourist Information Centre is a fantastic building which is full of history and we are excited about its future transformation into something the whole island can be proud of.

Andrew Haining, Chairman of RED fund

There was considerable interest in the future of this iconic building and we are delighted that we can now name a preferred bidder. We were impressed with the vision and enthusiasm of the RED fund team and felt that they understood the potential of the site to grow and diversify our economy and benefit the whole community
