Jersey's Battle of Flowers Christmas Parade has been postponed.

It was due to take place at the Waterfront in St Helier this evening, but has been called off because of the strong winds that have been forecast.

The event has been running for over 13 years, and sees the floats from the summer parade given a festive makeover. This year was due to feature 28 floats - the largest number of entries ever seen.

It will now take place next Sunday (15 December) from 4:45pm instead.

We are not dampened by the rain, but the winds gusting to force 8/9 are not within our safety levels and it would not be sensible to take the parade out with the current risk warnings in place issued by the authorities. We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday 15th December to wish you all a happy and safe Christmas.

Earlier this year, the Moonlight Parade was also affected by the weather conditions, causing organisers to cancel the fireworks display.
