Guernsey residents can have their say on the future of Leale’s Yard.

The Development and Planning Authority says it wants to gather a 'big picture' view on the site. It wants to hear the ideas on potential uses for the area and what islanders want to see changed or improved.

It is the first of a series of public drop-ins for the project, with feedback from the sessions helping to form a Development Framework for the area.

Representatives from the government's Planning service and Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design, who are leading the project team, will be at the sessions to answer questions and gather feedback.

This is a significant site in the heart of The Bridge, one of the Island's main centres and while development has been long awaited, it has the potential to deliver high quality housing and better services and amenities to serve the whole of the main centre area.

This is a great opportunity for the community to get involved and share their views at the start of this project before anything is drafted. This is just the first stage of engagement before work begins to draft a Development Framework so that the community's views are gathered and considered from the outset. There will however, be further opportunities for members of the public to give feedback throughout the process.

– Deputy Dawn Tindall, President of the Development & Planning Authority

The drop-in is on Thursday 16 January, between 2pm and 7pm at the Rock Community Church.

Anyone who cannot attend the session but would still like to contribute can do so by emailing planning@gov.gg by 20 January 2020.
