Students interested in a construction career had a go at helping to build their own school.

28 students at Haute Vallée School learned from builders, electricians and decorators who are working on a new building at the school.

The 14 - 16 year olds are taking part in a new skills-based construction course. They mix classroom lessons with real world experience.

This course is the best way for me to see what it's like to work in a physical environment. I've really enjoyed building walls and prepping them for painting. It's satisfying to create a finished product that I know I have done.

– Jack Shields - Student

Previously construction workers have visited the school to share advice.

While we're on the school's site, it can only help to build our relationship if we can support the students' learning.

– Luke Minier - Construction Manager
