I can confirm that, sadly, Deputy Jan Kuttelwascher passed away this morning. It is a shock to me and his colleagues in the States, he was dedicated public servant and his passing is a great loss. I would kindly ask people to respect his family’s privacy at this difficult time.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the unexpected and untimely death of Deputy Jan Kuttelwascher. We worked closely together for 4 years when he was Deputy Treasury & Resources Minister (2012-16.) Completely unflappable: ideal skillset for his first career as 747 pilot.

Shocked and saddened to hear of his death. He always had his own unique approach in debate and he will be missed.

The St Peter Port South Deputy had also been Chairman of Age Concern Guernsey.

A colourful and sometimes controversial figure, he was a professional pilot and businessman before moving into politics.
