Work to install new pontoons at St Sampson's Marina in Guernsey has been completed.

The new wave attenuating pontoons are designed to protect the harbour - and the 344 boats berthed there - from large waves during stormy weather.

The £350,000 project was given the green light after the pontoons were severely damaged by strong winds in October 2019.

The teams had to work around tides and changing weather conditions to install them.

This project’s completion was vital to protect St Sampson’s Harbour Marina. The work involved a number of specialist Guernsey Harbours’ staff and third party contractors. We are extremely pleased with the new wave attenuating pontoon design.

The contractor and our Technical Services team have had to work in very challenging weather and marine conditions to complete the project. A huge degree of thanks is due to the team involved for their dedication and professionalism.
