Guernsey Dairy hygiene rating drops
Guernsey Dairy's hygiene rating has dropped from four stars to two after a States inspection.
The inspectors have said that improvement is necessary
Environmental Health Officers carry out food hygiene inspections at all businesses that supply or prepare food for the public within the Bailiwick.
As part of the inspection officers assess three key areas to calculate the star rating;
Hygienic food handling practices
Cleanliness and the condition of the facilities and building
Management of food safety
The Dairy says the milk is safe to drink and they're going to lobby the government for better facilities.
Longer term, we're taking a policy letter to the states of Guernsey hopefully we'll be doing that in the next few months and that will look at options on what we're going to do, where we're going to go for the future.
