Islanders told to not visit the doctor if they think they have coronavirus

Islanders in Jersey should not visit their GP surgery if they think they have coronavirus.

That is the message from the head of Jersey's Primary Care Body.

Dr Nigel Minihane says instead of visiting their GP, people should self-isolate at home.

It comes after a woman visited the Castle Quay Medical Practice yesterday with flu-like symptoms after a trip to Milan in Northern Italy.

The woman has since tested negative for the virus.

We had to deep clean the room, the fortunate thing was, with Dr Ivan Muscat's guidance and his expertise we managed to get a negative result by three o'clock so at least we knew we were clear.
