Guernsey cyclist Sam Culverwell will get the chance to compete in some of Europe's top development events after joining Trinity Racing for 2020.

The 19-year-old has been named on the new U23 road team's 11-strong roster.

Culverwell, who picked up the PraxisIFM Rising Star award at last month's Channel Islands Sports Awards, enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2019.

He won a maiden Island Games gold medal and produced a string of impressive performances on the national stage.

Among the other riders on Trinity's team is World Cyclo-cross silver medallist and U23 Paris-Roubaix winner, Tom Pidcock.

They begin racing in Belgium this weekend.

We have built a hugely talented young team which includes some of the best U23 riders in the world. Our race programme will give the lads a solid mixture of some of the top one day and stage races in Europe, such as the Baby Giro which is a big target for us in our debut season.
