Blue Islands confirms seven new crew members have had their contracts terminated.

It follows the announcement that the company is cancelling all scheduled flights to and from Guernsey.

Advice issued by Guernsey’s government says that anyone arriving in the island must self-isolate for two weeks.

A spokesperson for the airline says it has "not been an easy decision" however the "impact of Covid-19 has had an unprecedented impact on travel and it has also meant that the new team members were not able to complete their training".

Blue Islands hopes the individuals concerned will be able re-join once our flying programme resumes and training can be completed.

Our priority is the health and safety of our passengers and staff, and we stand by the States of Guernsey and Government of Jersey’s policies to control the spread of Covid-19, the health of our islands is the responsibility of the whole community.

– Blue Islands spokesperson

The crew members joined Blue Islands in early March.
