A formal proposal has been put to Guernsey politicians asking them to delay this year's election.

It was due to take place in June, and would have been the first to involve island-wide voting.

But due to the current uncertainty brought on by the Coronavirus outbreak, it is now likely to be delayed.

The proposed new date is 29 October. The nomination period would start on 14 September and conclude on 18 September, with new members being sworn in the day after the election.
