Guernsey's police force says it is grateful that people are following the island's lockdown rules and staying at home.

Today was the first day under these new conditions, which involves gatherings of two or more people being stopped, and all non-essential shops and community spaces closing.

There has been a marked change in behaviours since the weekend and the whole community should be thanked for that.

We must now all maintain this modified behaviour as we progress through this initial 14-day period of new strict measures about staying at home and away from others.

We all just need continue to act with courtesy, patience and responsibility in not buying more than they need.
