Hospital workers, carers, police officers and volunteers will be given permits for free parking.

Over 650 permits are being given - 500 of those are for hospital workers, including maintenance staff.

Parking at Patriotic Street car park will be closed to the public from tomorrow (28 March), apart from visitor and disabled parking on the ground floor. The rest will be reserved for hospital workers.

Police Officers will be able to park at Green Street for free, and seven permits are being given to Salvation Army volunteers to use at Minden Place car park.

Parking restrictions will be relaxed for carers, and they will be entitled to a St Helier Parking permit.

Jersey’s frontline workers and volunteers are key to our management of Covid-19, and these parking permits will make it a little easier for them. We are also making a stressful situation a little easier for anyone who is delivering food or providing home care by recognising Parish of St Helier carers parking permits. We are all grateful for the long shifts and challenging work that all these people undertake, and I think Islanders will welcome the provision this support. >

Deputy Kevin Lewis, Jersey's Minister for Infrastructure
