Jersey's government says it hopes to have on-island testing for Covid-19 up and running in the next couple of days.

5,000 testing kits have been ordered, and once up and running they would mean results could be confirmed within hours rather than waiting for the UK to process them, which is currently taking four to five days.

The Health Minister, Deputy Richard Renouf, says the priority will be to test front line health care workers.

Meanwhile, Guernsey has successfully tested its first patients on-island after starting over the weekend.
