Guernsey’s Lieutenant-Governor, Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder, has spoken out about his ‘great sadness’ following the first coronavirus death in the island.
In an address to the Bailiwick, he offers his condolences to the family and speaks of the difficult times that are ahead for all of us.
The Lieutenant-Governor pays tribute to the government, health services and emergency services who have prepared for the ‘difficult days ahead’.
He also urges everyone to heed the essential restrictions that are in place, and to remain united to beat this infection - adding that "the next few months are going to test our island spirit to the limit".
