Schools and nurseries in Jersey will remain open over Easter for the children of critical workers.

School staff have volunteered their time to ensure workers can remain on the front line.

The news follows Guernsey who announced their schools will remain open over Easter yesterday.

I am enormously grateful to our headteachers and their staff who have volunteered to work over this period and support their fellow critical worker colleagues and their Children.

A range of groups like Highlands College and Jersey Sport will be helping to plan and deliver some of the holiday activities.

This provision continues to be offered as a last resort to a limited number of parents and carers who are engaged in delivering essential services and are unable to make any alternative arrangements for childcare. Schools and nurseries will not open over the Easter weekend when it is hoped, in spite of this situation, some family time may be afforded to all.

Parents will be contacted within the next ‘couple of days’ to confirm details.
