42 jobs lost as freight company closes

A Channel Islands freight company has been forced to close its doors immediately because of the effects of Covid-19.

42 people will lose their jobs locally.

Channel Island Lines made the announcement this morning, citing "very difficult trading conditions, as a direct result of the impacts of Covid-19 on current and forecast volumes and cash flow".

The closure includes the company's subsidiaries Rockayne Jersey Ltd and Paul Davis Freight Services.

Customers are asked to collect their goods from the warehouses.

The group employed 80 people, with 30 in Jersey, 12 in Guernsey and 38 in the UK.
