Disc zone parking will be reintroduced in Guernsey from this weekend (Saturday 30 June).

Changes to the zones will mean islanders can leave their vehicles at North Beach, Victoria (Crown) Pier and Albert Pier for three hours instead of two.

As Guernsey is expected to enter phase four of the lockdown exit strategy tomorrow (30 May), the Traffic and Highway Services says parking changes will better reflect the time it takes people to visit the shops.

The government is encouraging people to maintain at least a one metre distance. This contrasts with Jersey, where legislation has been approved and could see islanders fined up to £1,000 if they breach the two metre guidelines.

As the Bailiwick prepares to take a step closer to normality and enter phase four on Saturday, disc zone restrictions on parking spaces will return. It is normal for these restrictions to exist, and with traffic expected to increase in phase four, it is appropriate for them to be re-imposed.
