Parents in Guernsey will be sent guidance on how their children will be kept safe at school before they reopen on Monday 8 June.

The document will explain how schools will be run and try to answer questions that parents and carers may have.

Covering the following topics:

  • Social distancing

  • Hygeiene

  • Cleaning

  • Transport

  • Compulsory attendance

Headteachers will contact parents and carers later this week to explain any specific measures that are being put in place at their school.

Due to health guidance, social distancing will have to be maintained on school buses meaning there will be less room for students

Parents are being encouraged to find other ways of getting their children to school and only to use the school bus if absolutely necessary.

We have sought to provide information and answers that will be consistent across all schools, while conscious that many issues will need to be considered at an individual school level. We decided that all students would return from Monday 8th June so that headteachers and their staff had this week, the first back after half term, to consider any issues relevant to their site and the way their school operates.
