Guernsey Raiders have confirmed they will host two sides from the Isle of Man next month after taking advantage of the 'air bridge' between the islands.

Raiders' first XV will face Douglas RFC, who play two levels below them in the North 1 West division, on Saturday 15 August, before St Jacques Vikings take on an IoM select team at Footes Lane.

"To have the opportunity to play a game will be huge for us considering we haven't played since February", said Raiders director of rugby Jordan Reynolds.

"I think they'll give us a pretty good hit-out - by all accounts they've got some good players, some England county guys, so it'll be interesting and it's a little bit of the unknown, but I guess that makes it a little bit more exciting".

Reynolds' squad resumed training last month and are working towards their season starting in October or November, although that has not yet been confirmed.

"It will be fantastic to see the bar back and functional and the stand and around the stadium packed", Reynolds said.

"We know there's a huge amount of interest from the UK - obviously we'll be the first community game to go ahead since Covid so there'll be huge interest there".

Meanwhile, several sides from the Guernsey Rugby Academy will travel in the other direction for a day of fixtures on Sunday 9 August.
