Two men from Jersey have been sentenced to 120 hours of community service after throwing paint on a statue and assaulting a police officer.
Adam Bellamy and Harry Rawnsley-Gurd, both 20, have also been ordered to pay compensation after pleading guilty to malicious damage and assault on police.
Rawnsley-Gurd also pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and Bellamy pleaded guilty to escaping lawful custody.
On Sunday 14 June Jersey Police were told paint had been thrown over the Les Jongleurs statue in Queen Street.
One of the men tried to run away after being stopped by a police officer. He was was able to grab hold of him, but there was a struggle between the pair, which resulted in officer being punched several times and being repeatedly hit over the head with a foam scaffolding sleeve.
Jersey Police says the officer used his PAVA spray to subdue one of the assailants until back-up arrived.
