Competitive rugby returns to Guernsey on Saturday with a sevens festival at Footes Lane featuring teams from across the Bailiwick.

The one-day event will mark the first full-contact rugby played anywhere in the British Isles since lockdown.

Guernsey Raiders first team squad will play two matches on the full pitch (1:30pm and 2:25pm), while Guernsey Ladies will also have two games, played across half a field.

Meanwhile eight sides will contest a tournament in the XRugby7s format, including St Jacques Vikings - the island's second team, Alderney, and Guernsey Rugby Club's veterans and colts.

As well as providing vital revenue for Raiders, who have seen their income and funding drop drastically because of the pandemic, it will also serve as a useful warm-up ahead of next week's home games against Douglas RFC from the Isle of Man.

The action starts at 1:30pm, with the tournament final scheduled for 4:30pm.
