Guernsey FC's physio Mike Thomas dies

Guernsey FC's physio Mike Thomas has died.

He was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last summer.

Mike had helped the island side for almost 25 years and was given the Michael Lucas Sporting Hero award at the Channel Island's Sports Personality of the Year Award earlier this year for his dedication to the game.

Guernsey FC have tweeted that they were devastated to hear that he passed away this morning.

Life can be very cruel at times and I cannot fully express how saddened the club and everybody connected with it are today. Mike was an incredible man and we will miss him hugely. Quite rightly there will be many tributes, however at this stage our thoughts are with Dawn, Matt, Dan and the rest of the Thomas Family. RIP Chappie.
