The founder of Jersey's world famous conservation park will have his family's story told in a new six part drama series commissioned by ITV.

The programmes are based on Gerald Durrell's memoirs of when his family set up a new life in Corfu in 1935.

It's called The Durrells and will be written by well know screenwriter Simon Nye and produced by Sid Gentle Films.

The Durrells is a rollercoaster, adventure drama. The characters are struggling with the eternal dilemmas of family life when Louisa sets her heart on moving to Corfu. It’s a unique and engaging drama and we’re delighted to be working with Simon Nye and Sally Woodward Gentle once again.

– Steve November, ITV’s Director of Drama

Filming will be taking place in Corfu later on this summer. Click here to read more information about the series.
