Airport staff taken to hospital after inhaling fumes from Aurigny plane

Guernsey Airport

Four airport workers were taken to hospital after inhaling toxic fumes at Guernsey's airport today.

A fluid pipe on an Aurigny plane burst as the plane came into rest at its stand.

Passengers were disembarked quickly after a member of the crew on the plane from London Gatwick, smelt hydraulic fluid.

Ground crew waiting for the aircraft inhaled the fumes and were taken to hospital, and discharged within the hour.

Representatives of Health and Safety are attending the scene.
