Islanders attend vigil for victims of Orlando nightclub massacre

Dozens of islanders in Jersey turned out to a vigil last night to remember those killed in the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando.

Around 50 people lit candles, said prayers and honoured a two minute silence to remember the 49 people who died in Sunday's massacre.

The gathering in St Helier's Royal Square follows many acts of solidarity around the world.

Organisers say the shooting was one extreme example of homophobic attacks that happen on a regular basis.
