Hundreds attend first Pride event in Guernsey

The streets in St Peter Port were filled with colour over the weekend, for the islands first ever Pride event.

Celebrations kicked off on Saturday at Candie Gardens and saw a parade snake through the town, finishing in Market Square where the fun continued over the weekend.

Efforts made my the LGBTQ community over the last couple of years have led to political change, including the agreement to introduce same-sex marriage.

Those who went, say it's something for everybody to get involved in.

Two Pride movie nights are planned later this week:

  • Wednesday: '52 Tuesdays,' Fermain Valley Hotel, 7:30pm-10:30pm
  • Thursday: 'Cabaret,' Fermain Valley Hotel, 7:30pm–10:30pm
The rainbow flags are still flying high around the island
