Pride goers ‘very generous with donations’

Organisers of Jersey’s Pride event say people who attended were ‘very generous’ with donations.

Money raised at Saturday’s event in St Helier goes to the equality charity, Liberate.

5,000 people joined a parade through the town to Weighbridge Place, where live music and entertainment helped people celebrate into the evening.

Liberate has not released details of how much money was raised at the event, but says it will be spent promoting equality.

The money will go towards fulfilling our educational responsibilities, working with schools and employers to combat LGBT related bullying and discrimination. Liberate’s vision is simple. We believe in a fair and equal society, where everyone is born equal and free, and treated with dignity and respect.
