A Jersey man has appeared in court charged with 25 historic sex offences dating back to the 1970s.

Lester Charles Quenault is accused of six counts of rape, seven of gross indecency and 12 of indecent assault.

The charges all involve three girls aged between seven and 14 years old, with the rape charges relating to two of the girls, who were aged between eight and 14 at the time.

All the charges date back between 1971 and 1979.

77-year-old Quenault was born in Jersey but is currently in the process of moving back from England. He appeared in Jersey's Magistrate's Court early this afternoon and has been bailed until his next court appearance on the 20th April 2017.
