The wife of Liverpool and Everton star Gary Ablett has spoken exclusively to Granada Reports about the normal, family man she knew.
Gary died in January from a form of blood cancer.
He is the only man to win the FA Cup on both sides of Merseyside and his wife Jacqueline says he was respected by fans across Stanley Park.
She said: "I think he knew he was respected in the game. But when he came home it was just family stuff and work was forgotten about. I don't think he realised how much he was liked."
Despite his FA Cup success in 1995 with Everton, Jacqueline speaks of a man who would appreciate the simple things in life.
"When Everton got to Wembley in '95 it was an amazing time," Jacqueline said.
"I was heavily pregnant with Scarlett and we just have some fantastic memories. But again, I think we went to my mum and dad's and had egg and chips. We just got on with it."
