Police are investigating the death of a care home resident in Manchester.
73 year old Ivan Campbell died at a private home in Rusholme from internal injuries. He was admitted to hospital on Monday 16 April 2012 and died the next day.
Detectives from the Major Incident Team have launched an investigation to establish how the injuries were caused and who is responsible for causing them.
GMP is working closely with the owner of the home and its staff, Manchester City Council, the NHS, Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust and the Care Quality Commission as part of the investigation. Relatives of all residents at the home have been informed .
Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Rawlinson, from the Major Incident Team, said: “This is a very difficult and challenging investigation but we will do everything in our power to establish how Ivan came to suffer his injuries and who is responsible.
“Any death in a care setting will understandably make the media and public sit up and take note and I want to reassure everybody that protecting the most vulnerable members of our community is an absolute priority for us and our partners.
