Giant bubbles have been towed onto Fairhaven Lake, near Lytham, as part of a public art project to coincide with the Open Golf at Royal Lytham & St Annes golf club.

Fairhaven Bubbles will "bring a touch of effervescence on a grand scale" according to the organisers.

A sequence of blow-up spheres emerge from a quiet corner of the lake "where the experience, particularly from a boat, will be surprisingly intimate", they say.

The installation was designed by international artist Steve Messam, and commissioned by Mid Pennine Arts in partnership with Lancashire County Council and Fylde Borough Council.
