Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes has been given permission to speak to fellow Championship side Middlesbrough.

Rhodes has scored 11 times in 26 appearances for Rovers this season, and has netted 85 goals in 169 matches since joining from Huddersfield for £8m in 2012.

A short statement on the club's website reads: “Blackburn Rovers can confirm that they have reluctantly given Middlesbrough permission to speak to striker Jordan Rhodes.

“The player has expressed his desire to talk to the Teesside club and will travel to the North-East for discussions.”

Boro are currently second in the Championship, one point behind Hull. The fee is rumoured to be £9m.
