Police are continuing to investigate an attack on a man who was left with half a skull and in need of medical care for the rest of his life.
Officers are appealing for information six months on from the attack.
Kirk Hutchinson, 52, from Stacksteads, in Rossendale, was attacked by a gang who are believed to have been wearing balaclavas.
He was found by police around 7pm after they were alerted to a disturbance in Bacup. He was unresponsive and had major head injuries.
The 52-year-old was treated at the scene before being taken to Preston Hospital with a brain bleed. He was later transferred to Salford Hospital in a critical condition and placed in a medically induced coma.
Officers believe Kirk Hutchinson was attacked by a group of men who were wearing dark clothing, scarves and balaclavas.
Seven men were initially arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and public order offences. A woman, aged 38, was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All were later released without charge.
