Witness appeal launched after crash in Oswaldtwistle

Police are appealing for information after a man suffered serious facial injuries following a collision near Blackburn.

Around 11.10pm on 21st December, a 29-year-old man was driving a Mazda car on Elton Road when he was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Tiguan.

The Mazda left the road and continued into a field before coming to stop on its roof.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to free the driver of the Mazda, who was taken to Royal Preston Hospital having suffered serious facial injuries, as well as suspected chest and abdominal injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 53-year-old woman and a passenger, a 21 year-old woman, suffered whiplash injuries.

The road was closed for more than five hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

“We are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Blackburn which left a man with a number of serious injuries.

We would ask anyone with information to contact us.
