Police have made a fresh appeal for information, 15 years after the disappearance of a man from Merseyside.

Lyndon Nowell was last seen by his partner at their home in the Kirkdale area at 5.30pm on Thursday, 24 January, 2002.

He was seen later that same night at the Coronation pub on Childwall Valley Road between 8pm and 8.45pm when he drove off from the pub car park in a silver Ford Focus car (registration SA51 YNM).

He was alone at the time and has not been seen since. His car was found burned in the early hours of the following day on Blantyre Road in Swinton, Greater Manchester.

Detectives investigating Mr Nowell's disappearance are still appealing for anyone who may know of his whereabouts to contact them.

"His family are still struggling to come to terms with his sudden and unexpected disappearance and the force is committed to discovering answers for them.

"The question still remains as valid today as it was on 24 January, 2002: Why would a man of his age with a young family and no apparent problems walk out of a pub and vanish into thin air?

"We firmly believe somebody has the answer to that question and I would urge them to contact the enquiry team as soon as possible.

"It is not too late to come forward and all information will be acted upon and treated in confidence."

– Detective Inspector Nick Price

Mr Nowell is described as black, 6ft 3in tall and well built. When he was last seen he was wearing beige Armani trousers and a red/maroon top.

"It has previously been suggested that Lyndon may have gone to visit someone in Manchester on the night he disappeared.

"I would appeal to anyone who knows where Lyndon went after leaving the Coronation pub, or anyone who may have seen the silver Ford Focus in the Swinton area shortly before 1am on 25 January 2002, to contact the Major Incident Room on 0151 777 8612, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
