Detectives appeal for witnesses after Moston assault

Detectives investigating an attack on a man in Moston are appealing for witnesses to come forward and help police with their enquiries.

At around 9pm on Saturday 15th April 2017, police were called to Chinley Avenue, Moston, following reports that a man had been found unconscious and bleeding from a head wound in the street.

Officers attended and discovered a 29-year-old man with a serious head injury.

He was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical and potentially life threatening condition.

It appears that the victim was attacked by several offenders, some of whom may have been armed with sticks or metal bars.

After hitting him on the head the offenders have left the area, leaving the victim unconscious in the street.

Five boys, aged 12, 14, 14, 15 and 17, and one man, aged 32, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in custody for questioning.
