The family of a teenager shot dead in Toxteth will lead an anti-gun and knife crime march through the streets of Liverpool this weekend. Student Yusuf Sonko, 18, was killed in June but police are yet to charge anyone over his murder.
On Saturday, his parents Kajdijah and Papa Sonko will take part in a public demonstration against gun and knife thugs and to raise awareness of the ongoing hunt for Yusuf’s killer.
Starting in Tiber Square, the march will begin just yards from the scene of the fatal attack.
Liverpool boxer and Olympics hero Natasha Jonas will assemble the crowd, with campaigners asked to arrive for the event at 12.30pm.
The march will then head towards the city centre, taking in Lodge Lane, Upper Parliament Street, Catharine Street, Hardman Street and Renshaw Street - before ending on the steps of Lime Street rail station.
