New research released shows the average amount people in Liverpool and Manchester are spending per loved one at Christmas.

The findings, released by group payment and personal fundraising platform, Leetchi.com, reveal that Brits nationwide spend an average of £112 on Christmas presents for each friend or family member.

Both Manchester and Liverpool, the two North West cities involved in the research, spend above average. Mancunians were found to spend around £118 per loved one and Liverpudlians a whopping £119!

Both cities lag behind Newcastle though, who came in top at £140 per person compared to Bristol who were the most frugal at £69.
