Liverpool Lime Street station closed for two days for emergency repairs

Liverpool Lime Street station has been closed for two days because of 'severe corrosion' to a structure carrying overhead wires, Network Rail said.

The station will be closed throughout Sunday and Monday while repair work is carried out.

Passengers travelling to and from Liverpool Lime Street are advices to check with their train operator before travelling.

All lines to and from Liverpool Lime Street are closed while we carry out emergency repairs. We will work as quickly as possible to reopen all lines. I'd like to apologise for the disruption this will cause and ask passengers to check before they travel.

Network Rail

Virgin Trains West Coast services are not running between Lime Street and Runcorn. Services between these stations will run from, and may terminate at, Warrington Bank Quay.

Northern Services between Lime Street and Edge Hill have also been suspended.

Replacement bus services are running between Lime Street and Liverpool South Parkway in lieu of London Northwestern and Transpennine Express services. Tickets for London Northwestern services are being accepted on Virgin Trains, Arriva Trains and Merseyrail services.

Services between Liverpool Lime Street and Scarborough will start and terminate at Liverpool South Parkway.
