They escaped in a red Ford focus.

One man, who witnessed the robbery, told the Manchester Evening News he saw one man carrying what looked like a cash box to the car.

I thought at first someone had been run over or there had been a crash. Then I heard someone on the phone to police saying there was an armed robbery in progress.

I looked out of the window and saw one man with a balaclava on coming out of the bank with an angle grinder and he put it in the car. He then went back inside and another man came out with what appeared to be a cash box.

Then all three came out and got in the car and sped off.
