An investigation is underway after a man was allegedly shot in the leg in St Helens.
Police were called to Langtree Street on Sunday night where they found a 19 year-old with a leg injury "consistent with a firearms discharge".
He was taken to hospital, where his injury is not believed to be life threatening.
Police don't believe that the shooting actually took place in Langtree Street and an investigation is currently underway to establish the circumstances of what happened.
Detective Inspector Steve Christian said: "The investigation is in its very early stages. We believe the man suffered his injury at a different location and will be carrying out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries to establish what has happened."
